Families

Weeke had a small population for a long period from the start of the Black Death in 1348 until the mid nineteenth century. All the land was actually owned by the Church originally, but some became owned by Winchester College so wealth was built up from leasing the land mainly from the church. The earliest documents that survive generally are church documents and so there is nothing available from the earliest times for the lay population.

There are several families that have established dominant positions in Weeke. These are described below:-
